TO «HEADCITY»

In America today, there remains only one big-tented circus, which manages to maintain
the traditional demanding schedule of one-day stands. It's the 72nd edition of Carson & Barnes Circus, bringing over a hundred performers and animals to the «LotLocation» in «City» on «Showdate» with shows at «Showtimes».  The «Sponsor» will use the event as a fundraiser to support many of its local community projects.  America’s “Biggest Big Top Circus”, is always pleased to provide a portion of its income to civic organizations for local use.  In 2007, almost one million dollars was raised for local hosts.


Carson & Barnes travels with its city-block long tent to some 200 other towns and cities each ten month season. Emphasis is on bringing this type of top quality family entertainment to communities all over America. While other circuses have reduced their size and schedule, Carson & Barnes is still the only organization capable of moving a huge show of some 60 vehicles, including trucks, trailers and RV’s , to a new site nearly every day, seven days a week.

The four-generation Miller - Byrd family has successfully owned and operated Carson & Barnes for over 71 years. The late DR Miller, founder, and known as "Mr. Circus," was recently inducted into the “Circus Ring of Fame” in Sarasota, FL and the “Circus Hall Of Fame” in Peru, IN. His legacy of American family entertainment is being carried on by his daughter, Barbara Miller Byrd and her husband, Geary Byrd, and his granddaughters’ families, the Parras and Cavallinis, who are all involved in the day-to-day hands-on operation and movement of this complex, multifaceted community. 

When Carson & Barnes sets up circus morning at «LotLocation», it is circus history and magic are recreated before your eyes. The general public is invited (free) and early birds can watch as the first units of the caravan begin arriving about an hour after dawn and continue to file in most of the morning. Some 25 species of exotic and domestic animals, featuring a large traveling zoo, are unloaded, fed and watered as soon as their huge transports pull onto the grounds.  After hundreds of stakes, poles and several miles of cables and ropes are laid out and prepared, the crew and trained elephants push, pull and lift the almost 300-foot Big Top 40 feet into the air. Finally all of the circus equipment is put in place inside the big top along with seating for over 2200 people.

The performers are artists from around the world, including the United States, Mexico, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Russia and Italy. Acts consist of aerial trapeze, high wire, motorcycle acrobatic teams and jugglers and clowns, along with performing elephants, camels, dogs and horses.

New for 2008, are the many children of performing families who are featured in the show. Watch these youngsters as they perform on the flying trapeze and astound you with acrobatic feats, horseback trick riding and championship hula-hoops.

* The giant Wheels of Destiny with astounding feats of balance and agility, blindfolded! 
* The biggest and most stunning aerial ballet from high atop the circus tent.
* A daring motorcycle ride up the wire while an acrobat performs suspended below.
*  Millers Majestic Prancing Ponies - always a hit with children of all ages.
*  The world’s best elephant acts performing under a big top! 

The Carson & Barnes Circus and the Miller-Byrd families have established the Endangered Ark Foundation to provide for endangered species, and operate a breeding program for the extremely endangered Asian elephant.  This facility had its grand opening and dedication in 2003.  Four and half year old baby elephant, Obert, is very special to the circus family, as one of the highlights of this breeding program.
