FEMALES There are few available females capable of reproduction. Only about 35 female Asian elephants have given birth in the last 20 years in North America. Of the 29 female elephants in the Carson & Barnes Circus herd, only Isa has been successfully bred at the Endangered Ark in Oklahoma. She gave birth to a daughter Jennie in 1998 and a son Obert in 2003.
