Happy Faces Hall of Fame
Cole Porter wrote it, Judy Garland and Gene Kelly sang it: “All the world loves a clown!”
Now, Barbara Miller-Byrd, the third generation owner of Carson & Barnes Circus, is letting local volunteer clowns get into the act and get the recognition they so richly deserve. The Happy Faces Hall of Fame recognizes clowns who volunteer to entertain sick children.
Working with area hospitals and hospices in each community, Carson & Barnes Circus identifies volunteers —professionals and amateurs— who clown around bringing joy to children facing with health issues.
“Clowns have been a staple in hospitals for decades and the circus wants to give those special people a moment in the spotlight,” said Barbara Miller-Byrd.
During this summer’s tour the Carson & Barnes Circus has set aside a segment on opening night in each city to introduce the selected volunteers and to present them with a special Happy Faces Award.
The volunteer clowns will also have an opportunity to perform with headlining international clown star, Alex Acero.
Each volunteer recognized will be a VIP Guest of Carson & Barnes Circus and invited to bring members of their families to share the moment. Volunteer clowns recognized at local shows this year will also be included in the Happy Faces Hall of Fame on the circus’s website.
